Tama Zoo

Hello everyone!!

I have to say starting off that this entry is just a little late. Actually, it’s a lot late. Like back from August late. Well, it’s not really THAT late…just a couple months. Actually, I sort of forgot about writing about all this, till just the other day while we were at Yokosuka and my parents mentioned this. So here is a late entry on the Tama Zoo.

This is at the entry of the zoo taken across the street.

And here are some of the Japanese kids. They all look so cute in their little hats. My mom says they look like little ducks all in a row the way they just follow the teachers.

100_5601

And here is one of the big elephant statues right outside of the gate.

100_5602

100_5603

And here we are in front of the elephant. What is funny is that we have a picture from almost 10 years ago, sitting in front of the same elephant. Talk about bringing back memories.

DSCF0358

And here is a group of school kids. Aren’t they SO cute!!

100_5604

And a lion and some cubs. All fake, of course.

100_5605

And some stuffed pandas that were in the main information building.

100_5607

And this huge giraffe that you could walk under.

100_5608

DSCF0362

100_5611

And here is Beck posing as the tiger. And then her posing as the little kangaroo.

100_5613

100_5623

And a koala.

100_5625

100_5626

You can tell Beck likes to pose as all the animals.

100_5629

100_5630

100_5631

And here is the lion kingdom.

100_5633

And the giraffes in their little pen (actually it is kind of big, but you get the point).

100_5634

100_5635

100_5637

DSCF0365

Man!! Look at that face!!!

DSCF0370

And this was all in the lions den.

DSCF0371

And look how close we were to this lioness. If the window would not have been there, we really could have reached out and touched her head.

DSCF0373

And some more of the lions.

DSCF0374

AHH!!! Look at this face!!!

DSCF0379

DSCF0380

DSCF0381

DSCF0382

DSCF0383

And in the lion pen again.

DSCF0387

DSCF0388

And a zebra. We got to see several of these eating some of their hay. It was funny because they would drop like half of the hay and then try to look down at it like “hey, (no pun intended) how did that get there?”

DSCF0389

My, what a big head you have Mr. Giraffe.

DSCF0390

DSCF0391

Here are all the giraffes trying to eat all the grass out of the basket.

DSCF0393

DSCF0396

And some more zebras. The second picture is of a zebra going berzerk scratching its back. It sort of reminds us of when our basset hound, Buford, scratches his back.

DSCF0401

DSCF0403

And then the chimpanzee area. We liked the way the chimpanzee stuck the sticks into the ant nest or termite hill to get sticks.

DSCF0405

And here was this huge chimpanzee that was cleaning its finger nails. We laughed at this chimpanzee for the longest time.

DSCF0407

And here are two babies that were playing.

DSCF0409

And this chimpanzee was super smart. Well, I have heard that all chimpanzees are very smart. Anyway, this one was putting a stick into a hole trying to get some fruit out. He (or she) did very well considering that there was not very much fruit in there and the stick was very flimsy.

DSCF0411

And here he (or she. I don’t know which is was) is sitting contently eating their piece of fruit.

DSCF0414

They then decide…”hmm, I think I want some more fruit to eat.”

DSCF0416

DSCF0417

And a pretty waterfall. It wasn’t big, but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t real pretty.

DSCF0419

And here is a big rock…tiger maybe. I think it is a tiger. It almost looks like it is drinking from the pond.

DSCF0420

DSCF0421

And this was when we made it over to the Orang-Utang house.

DSCF0422

We liked this orang-utang. It blew Beck a kiss.

DSCF0424

Then he got a little upset that we didn’t give him anything after he held his hand out like, “Can I have some food?” He walked over to their little play area and started shaking it real hard. It looked like it was going to collapse.

DSCF0425

And this was taken in a little observatory thing off to the left from where the last couple pictures were taken.

DSCF0426

And here we are with this orang-utang. I don’t know if he was putting on the serious face for the picture, or if he was upset that we were getting our picture with him.

DSCF0427

“My, what big ears you have, Mr. Orang-Utang”. “All the better to hear you through the glass, my dears.” Or maybe, “My, what big ears you have!” “Did¬†you just say that I have big ears?”

DSCF0428

And this…I must confess something…I gave/received my first kiss here. I was kissed by a big ape in jail. Okay, it was through the glass. And it wasn’t an ape. It was Mr. Orang Utang. And I puckered up first! And right now, I don’t have the picture of Mr. Orang Utang kissing back, but he did do it!! I promise!!! There was the four of us, and a Japanese couple, and another Japanese man all in there. We all laughed and laughed and laughed. It was so funny!!

DSCF0429

And here is the blue wolf or something like that.

DSCF0431

And here we are with Momma Koala and Baby Koala.

DSCF0437

And this is the view that we had…real pretty.

DSCF0440

DSCF0442

DSCF0443

And here is this really cute clock that was up at the top of the mountain.

DSCF0444

Ok. This is real funny. My mom wanted to do this. Well, Beck did, too. Momma kangaroo and her joey.

DSCF0445

DSCF0446

Now, this next picture was just a little difficult to come by because I was just a LITTLE too big for it. I got in with some struggling and I’m trying to figure out how I am going to get out.

DSCF0448

DSCF0449

And I thought this was realy cute.

DSCF0450

What a shot!!! Perfect timing on this, Mom. Look at that joey in the process of jumping into its mom’s pouch.

DSCF0457

I think this is a reindeer.

DSCF0459

And a rhino.

DSCF0460

OH!! The Beck egg is hatching!!!!

DSCF0461

DSCF0466

And I wasn’t going to do this one, but…well,…I gave in to the temptation…and the egging on of everyone else.

DSCF0462

DSCF0463

Aw Mom!! You should have spread your wings out!!!

DSCF0464

There she goes!!! Off…off…and……AWAY!!!!

DSCF0465

WHAT?!?!?! Dad, too?!?!?! He only wanted one picture of him.

DSCF0467

And the rhino in the water, just chillin’. It was pretty warm that day.

DSCF0473

“Hey, who is taking my picture?”

DSCF0474

“Ahh, just forget it. Just hurry up and take it.” “You like the profile best…..or my best side?”

DSCF0475

DSCF0476

And Mr. Elephant after his self-given shower.

DSCF0478

Awe!!! Look at the monkey…chimpanzee…orang-utang…I can’t tell the difference.

DSCF0484

DSCF0485

This snow cheetah is so pretty. I love it. Well, as long as it stays in the cage.

DSCF0488

A water buffalo!!! For the longest time, I thought these were a made-up creature. It just didn’t sound like a real animal.

DSCF0493

And here we have Mr. and Mrs. Water Buffalo.

DSCF0494

DSCF0495

And look at this real pretty parrot. This is for you, Sister Diane!!!

DSCF0498

DSCF0499

DSCF0500

And here is a black bear, standing next to his throne. Then scratching his back against the wall.

DSCF0503

DSCF0504

And here he is standing next to his smaller chair, the tire. It looks like he might have tried to soften it up a bit by clawing at it.

DSCF0505

And I don’t know if this was taken to show the traffic blockage, or to show that we were getting ready to go through a building in the middle of the expressway.

DSCF0508

Okay, that is all I have for this entry. Please come back to read all the other fun things that we have going on!!!!
